Scalable Manufacturing

  • Mitsubishi100
Mitsubishi 100; Structure manufactured mainly with resin transfer molding (RTM) method
  • windlens3
Wind Lens Turbines; blades and joints made with vacuum assisted transfer molding (VARTM) method
  • RTM
Fan blade made with resin transfer molding (RTM)
Polymer composite are emerging in a new era where their application spans from aerospace, automotive and marine to energy, biomedical and cosmetics. Scalable manufacturing of enhanced and multifunctional hybrid composites integrating micro and nano-reinforcements without any penalty on performance allows a faster production of novel composites at lower costs. In PCAM lab, we employ nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and cellulose nanocrystals and study the process-structure-property to develop hybrid composites with engineered hierarchy and performance.
